WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2016:
It's the beginning of the year, and there are a lot of people making projections about where oil and gas will be in the future. We know that based on the last 12-18 months, that most of these projections don't amount to much, but they still provide good insight into viewpoints from particular companies, etc.
While most articles and analysts are down about the near-term future of oil and gas, there seems to be at least one exception - the infrastructure market (pipeline and storage). There is a decent consensus that this industry will continue to grow through the down period.
A couple of takes on the infrastructure market:
- Natural gas storage market to Grow at CAGR of 3.7%
- Where does Midstream go from here?
- West Virginia natural gas production numbers 'shocking'
The last two articles are good examples as to why the infrastructure market will continue to grow - because we have a lot of product and can't move it where we need it to go. And as the articles note, companies are losing money because they can't move product to the right place. In the past this has been a major motivation to make changes!
A few more articles touching on potential future for natural gas and oil:
- Natural gas prices expected to rise over next 2 years
- Is there an end in sight for the natural gas slide?
- Harold Hamm expects $60 oil, says America will double output again
