WEDNESDAY, MARCH 16, 2016:
OK, so I know I said before that we wouldn't post a lot of political stuff, but it is that time in the U.S. where most things revolve around politics. There are have been several articles out this week concerning the energy sector and how it is being effected by the current political situation in the U.S.
First, a couple discussing some of the measures being taken by the current administration:
- Tides turn against offshore drilling in the Atlantic Ocean
- Another on the potential hidden down-side to the Clean Power Plan as it relates to the natural gas industry
Next, a look at some of the candidates running for President, and their stance on the energy segment:
The oil and gas industry has been through a lot in the last year, with price fluctuations that scare most people. We've seen some rebound in pricing lately, and some (including the IEA) believe that we have seen the bottom in pricing. Only time will tell, but it would be a much needed break for many companies. One company that we have discussed before, Linn Energy, appears to be headed for Chapter 11 with not much that can keep them from filing at this point.
In some better news, another U.S. company, Williams Partners, announced that they have two large scale pipeline and gathering projects upcoming.
In a follow-up to a previously posted article, Tortoise Investments has posted Part 2 of their "State of MLP's in 2016".
Make sure to tune into the blog all this month as we talk about hot oil heaters. At the end of the month we are also going to be providing a nice resource related to thermal fluids used in hot oil heaters. So make sure to check it out!
